Hi! I’m new to this but interested in meeting up with others to play at least semi-regularly.
What’s the attendance like on Fri/Sat/Sun here?
Are there any protocols and procedures a newbie like me wouldn’t know about when I show up for the first time?
I’d like to check out the Independence Parks and Rec. location too, but Saint Catherine would be much more convenient for me.
Thanks!
We’ve had about 15 – 25 players per night, but that’s been through Father’s Day and 4th of July weekends. We anticipate we’ll have more coming before long.
When you get there we’ll be happy to hit with you a little bit, and pair you up with some people who would be a good match. If you’re looking for it we can provide some general tips for improving as well, and help spark that addiction that can grab you!
For open play the general procedure is that you start hitting with somebody, and it’s busy enough, people can put their paddle (or case) at the base of the table to “call next game.” The winner stays, and the challenger comes up to play that winner.
If it’s not too busy and you and a partner want to just practice, that’s fine, too. We also have people willing to spend time on coaching tables for some practice. Lots of options. We’ll make you feel welcome. 🙂
Do we need to bring our own paddles/balls with us to play?
We provide the balls and if you need a loaner paddle we have a few. You can also purchase a paddle at the club.
